Gail, your basket of eggs is the prettiest I have seen in a long time.

I don't think I have ever seen these Araucanas and they are surprisingly different! The blue chick is very cute... what a coup (!)  that would be for an Easter chick celebration.

So glad someone knew the breed name.  They don't look much different to ordinary chickens to me, but I suppose to a breeder there are features that distinguish them.  Their eggs are great though!

I'm back from a very enjoyable show at Hexham.  Discovered I and my family were in the same B&B as forumist 'Daff as a Brush'  and I was given Anne's collection of 1st prize winning cut flowers when we got back to the B&B.  Thank you Anne, I did enjoy them and it was good to meet you and Barry.  We'll keep the B&B a secret - sufficient to say there were lambs being born by the minute!  Hope you got home safely.

Re. the blue eggs, - by coincidence, we were at the Hexham Farmer's market before the show opened, and I was soon put right by the stall holder when trying to educate my small grandson as to why some of the eggs on her stall were blue.  I too thought they were duck eggs, but was told otherwise.  She seemed to specialise in unusual breeds of hen.

Maggi, you would have heard about the FM earlier from me, -  I posted to you on my son's computer, but checked on getting home to see I had not memorised your address correctly.

Fritillaria gibbosa shown by Alan Furness won the best pan in an under 19cm pan...and close up was a really good plant, picture does not do it justice
Callianthemum anemenoides shown by John Richards...coal and all hanging on well from a show the week before

Asarum maxima....quite a popular genus at AGS shows now, not sure they are to my taste but close up the flowers have a quality that is difficult to capture on camera

Last one or three
Hepatica 'Millstream Merlin' ...I think...still one of the best in my opinion
Corydalis solida...one of the stalwarts of any spring garden...no matter how cold its been
Hepatica seedlings shown by David Boyd to show variation from a packet of seed...in a rectangular tray no less...much muttering under breath by the collar and tie brigade!

Just noticed that the Scots do not put the clock forward at the same time as the rest of the UK...so whats new...perhaps they will bring the price of diesel down by a lot more than us southerners...just to rub it in a bit more...sorry Ian

Forum time stays put at GMT or whatever it is, though Fred can tweak it, I think, if he feels like it... since we're most of us in different time zones it hardly matters......... you can adjust  the time shown in your profile area..... 

Some really super plants... and Boydies mixed widgets are adorable.

And Boydi generously donated a huge tray full of those delightful assorted hepaticas to the members plant table too, and they were all gone at the end of the show.  No wonder!!!
