by Sandy Leven Back to Troughs SRGC President Ian Young and top Nurseryman Ian Christie organised a marvellous hands on day at Christie's Nursery at Westmuir by Kirriemuir in association with the RHS. About 100 members gathered to learn how to make and plant troughs. Demonstrations were given by Ian and Margaret Young, Sandy Leven, Susan Band and Ian and Carole Bainbridge. The day was dry at the right times but eventually everyone got wet. The delight of the rain was that it kept everyone cool [imagine how hot we might have been in the poly-tunnels and tents on a real summer's day!], the plants did not need to be watered in and lastly there was no point in worrying about coiffure or neatness - the two things about which I worry most when gardening!
