Title: Saxifraga display at Sutton Valence 2017
Post by: Maggi Young on October 22, 2017, 02:09:57 PM
These  two pictures of the Saxifrga Society display a the recent Kent AGS  show are from  nurseryman Rob Potterton (http://www.pottertons.co.uk) - who was impressed with the effect. Photos on the display itself were from  master photographer Jon Evans.

Tim Ingram suggested that an "advert " for the society was a good addition  and supplied this - I agree!

My mistake - the display was  certainly by those connected with the Saxifraga Society,  hence the Sax. Society infor  shown but it was more correctly "The Saxifraga Hub" to promote Saxes -
 as David Hoare explains.......

" This display (The Sax Hub) was put together by myself with help from Tony Hale & Adrian Young. with photos from John Evans. It was not a Saxifrage Society display. Being Saxifrage Society members we had information on the Society and books for sale.

Rob Potterton: Apologies David, my mistake, although your statement leaves me somewhat confused. What is The Sax Hub??

David Hoare :The first show at Sutton Valence I did not have a job to do ( After 13 years of Show Sec') So the next show I put on a display of Sax's to keep me out of mischief and I called it the Sax Hub ( Hub being the in word) ie transport hub.

Rob Potterton: We discussed this on Saturday, but from what I could see on display and literature it does at least to me appear to be promoting the Saxifraga Society.

Adrian Young:  We were promoting Saxifraga, many people do not want to join Societies . We were offering some unusual plants (out of flower) which went pretty well."

A worthwhile exercise in promoting the plants, anyway!
