Post by: JohnnyD on July 29, 2024, 06:17:37 PM
Can anyone explain what is happening here with this Armeria pseudarmeria 'Dreamland' seedhead?
Are seeds germinating????
There isa always something new to see!

A bit like Festuca vivipara (https://www.irishwildflowers.ie/pages-grasses/g-39.html), quite common in upland areas.

We have had this happen to our A. pseudo-armeria plants quite a few times. It is caused by the dampness of the atmosphere. The seeds germinate before they fall. They actually will grow into new plants if taken off and potted up. Otherwise, they eventually rot away.

Odd thing about these Armeria. The first one we had was pure white( got it from Bill Reed). BUT, since then every one we have grown has been pink. We did buy a brick red one, and guess what? The seeds from that grew as pale pink too.
