Chris,
An amazingly different garden, something which would be impossible here as we have weather which is so much wetter. Great to see your very interesting garden, great plants.
I like the little tortoise/turtle!

Wow wish you were just around the corner from me - I would love to see the garden 8). All your plants look so healthy and exciting.

very nice garden! most of these would be only houseplants here ;) although i have some high altitude Echinocereus trig' seedlings, we'll see about in a year or two!
i bet your neighbours take notice of that garden :)
-
Christian the design of your garden is really unusual and full of interesting sculptural shapes of all sorts with amusing surprises - the agave is magnificent and the Pinus pinea is so handsome
-
I love on the Agave where the leaves are imprinted with the outlines of the spines of the leaves which were wrapped around them.

My sad Yucca has never flowered and its full of black splotches.
If only I could turn back the clock by fifty three years I could have been born in Germany and would be able to grow all these amazing plants.
You have a great garden full of exciting things, had a peek at all your troughs 8).
Angie :)
-
angie, thanks, if you in germany, visitors are welcome....
cheers
chris 8)

Thanks maybe one day. I still have family in germany and have been promising myself that I would go and see them and also see where my mum was born.

Woww fantastic garden its absolutely stunning! Well done dude ;D
-
Beautiful garden. Just like everyone else, I am envious!
The imprinted pattern on the agave leaves reminds me of the aztec/inca snake designs. I have often wondered if that is where they got the inspiration from.
Thanks for the great photos.
Cheers.

lisa, len, thank´s for the positive answers...

You know Chris, I've been thinking about this for a while, seeing the photos from your garden.... and I'm guessing, with all the agaves and such spiky plants, that you don't have any small children or a dog or a cat ....... ::) ??? ;)
-
hi maggi, my children are 12 and14 years old, no problem...no dog and no cats.... 8)

children should be able to learn fast enough to avoid serious injury ;) dogs and cats i think would avoid the spines easily enough-i've seen cats pick their way among potted cacti..
-
no cats

cohan, i´ve never had any problems with my children, your right...also with cats and dogs, they learn fast ;D

I'm astonished...two children brought up in the garden and there is no sign of blood on the agaves!! :o ;D
Our neice's two would have been impaled in a day...... I guess their parents are not so bright! :P

Uhm I hope these plants don't take over like a couple have taken off here. I planted a variegated agave and a plain green one from my grandmother's farm garden. 25-30 years ago it was up the back but the garden has extended further and so have these plants - great spiky clumps which have runners under the ground. When I open the garden I have to hack back some leaves near the nearly non existant paths so that people do not get spiked. One day I will have to really do something about them!!

lesley--in that case-watch for the cactus forms named 'inermis' like that one--thats what it means, 'no prickles' ;D (or far fewer than normal, at least) quite a few cactus sp have such a form...

i suppose if they are not 'trained' for it from an early age they'd be much more at risk--not knowing plants could bite back! lol
