Title: A Roving Ranunculus
Post by: Maggi Young on October 14, 2011, 01:53:17 PM
We all know that "Ranunculus" one of the Forum's oldest members (I use that term in its more kindly meaning!) is a great advocate of holidays to the mountains to see the little flowers that so enchant us all in their natural habitat - indeed, we have read of such trips in the main pages of the SRGC website and seen numerous pictures here in the Forum.

Next year will be as others, in that Ranunculus, also known as Cliff Booker, will again be leading a holiday to the Dolomites... see this newsletter from Collett's holidays... www.colletts.co.uk/newsletter/

You can find more details for that trip here.. http://www.colletts.co.uk/mountain-flower-special-in-the-italian-dolomites.html    and also read there about something else that dear Ranunculus has been up to.... he's been working on a flower book with David Charlton and details of that are in that link too.  8)

Have to say there is little more pleasureable than to sit back and watch the labours of others!

Well done Cliff.... I imagine the trips will be as successful as ever and we'll be looking forward to seeing the book in due course.

Keeps busy, doesn't he? Seems there is no rest for the wicked.... ;)

edited to add screengrab re book.....

Well if nothing else, Cliff knows where all the Rifugios are  ;D
For those of you who have never been to the Dolomites but have been thinking about it, this is a wonderful opportunity....and you couldn't be in better hands. Cliff knows his way around, knows the plants, knows the people and his company is second to none.....providing you can tolerate his awful sense of humor and pathetic jokes.
I just know the book is going to be a big hit. I'm biased because he is a great friend but you won't find better photographs anywhere. I'm really looking forward to publication.
Oh that we could join you on this trip Cliff......we'd give you a really hard time  ;D
Love and such from the Kentucky Kernels !!!!

Delighted to see Cliff's photography and plant knowledge going to a wider audience and looking forward to the book.

Best wishes with it, Cliff. Every success. Paddy

Best flowers are in the glasshouses of Cyril Lafong and Cecilai Coller, aren't they?  :-\

Did I sense a back-handed compliment in there somewhere, Mr G?  Are you mellowing with age or just hankering after a free book - signed in blood, of course?
Love and little yellow violas to you both.

We could all decide to go on the holiday and ask lots of difficult questions.....

Such as:-
"Is the Bookeroo REALLY related to Tom Collett"?
"Why are we only seeing ranunculus on each of these special hikes"?
"How DOES he walk across those screes after SO much wine"?
"Who talked us into this holiday anyway"?
"How does Sue put up with this on a daily basis"?
"Is it possible to fly home early"?
"Can we switch to David's walk tomorrow"?
"We know they are both blue, but you should be able to tell the gentian from the milk carton"?

If Cliff wants rest, he shouldn't be so wicked.

Well done Cliff. Wish I could join one of those walks/talks. ;D

If you get asked too many awkward questions Cliff, you could always do a runner, or are you a sucker?

I don't know about mellowing Mr. B but I'm certainly aging :'(
No back-handed compliments Cliff....one has to give credit where credit is due....and being as I have no cash...credit is all you're getting ;D
Love and such from a sunny and warm Berea....until the end of the week then the sub zero temperatures (31F) are forecast. That should give the seeds a kick!!!
