Is this how the Lobelia tupa seedling should look like?

I haven't grown this myself but I think the foliage  would be lighter green and a bit softer/slighty hairy  looking - because the older foliage is that way.

I've grown this from seed but not for several years and so can't remember clearly.  The mature plant certainly has light green, furry leaves.  Looks as if your plant is a fast grower like L. tupa so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for a flower.

Hi

I have Lobelia tupa growing in my garden and the leaves are glaucous and slightly furry.  I dont remember it as a seedling I'm afraid but to my mind your seedling looks like a different kind of lobelia.  If the leaves were darker it could possbly be cardinalis.  Sorry that isnt very helpful

Thanks for quick replies! The leaves have a much lighter colour that in the picture, and they have soft feeling, but without calling them hairy. More like floss maybe? And that's on the leaf surface, not under. The seeds come from Mr. Belov (chileflora.com), so I should expect them to be the real thing I guess  :-\

Sorry for the late reply, I'm emptying my Inbox and finding all sorts of things I've missed.

I grow L. tupa from seed regularly and the seedling leaves are light green, slightly furry - I'd say ever-so-slightly felted rather than furry - and are pointed at the tips, just the mature leaves in miniature. I agree yours looks more like, say, L. cardinalis or a hybrid with that in it. Could be well worth growing on.
