searching for Thunbergia seeds

Hi all ,

In this time I'm looking for seeds of Thunbergia species ( not the common T.alata forms)
T.capensis
T.grandiflora
T.dregeana
T.fragrans
T.battiscombei
T.gregori
T.pondoensis

I know that all seeds of Thunbergia species ( exept T.alata ) are difficould to get ...but maybe anyone can help ?
I will sure pay for those seed /or swap !

Hmm. how can I answer without appearing to be in competition 

I know of several sources for T. grandiflora - "squeeky buffalo" on ebay, seed vendor.com, there's a seller in Eastern Europe. Looking just now there is another supplier in India on ebay. Problem is I've had seed from the first three, and it did not germinate. Might well be my fault.

In 2012 I bought a plant, from a large UK company, dead on arrival. In 2013 I bought another one off them, turned out to be a morning glory.

Not easy.

I have also found some sources for T.grandiflora in the WWW. but my hope was more to find a member who is growing these plant ...so I would more sure that the seeds are fresh and true named ...

There is perhaps irony here.

I suspect in India the plants are common, and in some parts of the world they are problem weeds.

I agree that fresh seed off someone growing the plant would be best.

I've found what look like reliable sources of plants in the UK (RHS plant finder), that is my plan for next year.

Then I will make a fortune selling seed...

Yes T.grandiflora comes from India ....but I doubt a little that that we here in ( northern) Europa can grow this plant well .
So far I know it needs in winter a lot of light and a minimum of 15° ( ist a Evergreen )...that is ( for me ) a little problematic.

I grow since some years T.natalensis in winter in my garage ( frostfree ) it has survived without any problems 

My others ( alata ,gregorii,battiscombei ) have I killed 
Now I know a little more ....they need a minimum of 10°

By searching for Thunbergia here in this Forum have I found anywhere something from you with your problems with T.grandiflora !

My T.gregorii is getting the most basic of winter care. If it survives you will be welcome in the spring to the few seeds that I collected. I would have had quite a lot of seed had I been aware that the seed pods explode! As it is most of my seed got well and truly scattered.

As I say, I will want to see if my plant survives the winter first, and as I only have a very small number of seeds I will want to keep them until the spring in case.

My plant is basically frost free and fairly dry. I've been told elsewhere that this is enough if the plant is dormant, so time will tell. The killer comes if it decides to come back into growth and then catches a cold snap apparently.

OK  Keith ...now I have understand !
So far I know T.gregorii needs around 10° in winter ...and light !
Maybe you could make some cuttings and let they root ( as insurence )
I'm interestet to hear later if you had succsess

When I cut it back for storage I used the cuttings, but I'm not too sure that they will take. They're certainly not taking so far.

It has light in the shed. But I too am not overly optimistic as to it's chances.
