Does anybody know this Chinese plant? I mean it is not a Petrocosmea.

Hans,
It looks like
Chirita tamiana
. The bud setup in the top right of the "leaves" picture is rather distinctive, unlike any other I have come across, but I am guessing there may be other
Chirita
that have it. I have one in flower here under lights at the moment. Flowers virtually all year around if happy. A rather nice little Gesneriad.

Not sure whether it is me you're asking or not, Mike? I do have some seed pods on the plant at the moment. I actually removed 4 pods earlier today, just leaving two on there as I wanted to sow a few as I only have a single plant. No idea how soon they'll mature, as I haven't collected gesneriad seed before. I don't know
Strep caulescens
as a species, just the hybrid streps in the garden centres, and
S. candida
(which actually has flowers very similar to the
Chirita tamiana
).

Hello Paul. Well my strep. never set seed for me. Can you please tell me how do you pollinate your plants?
I have also never grown gesneriads from seed. If the strep does njot set seed, i have kohleria rhizomes that i think i can send you
Mike =)

Mike,
Our quarantine here in Aus means seed only, no bulbs/rhizomes etc. Mine hasn't set seed in the past from memory, but for some reason did this year. No idea why, but I'm not complaining!!
