Paeonia.
I got it many years ago, it's about 50 cm tall, thin suckers are very hardy, does anyone know what it's called?

I think it is what used to be called
P. potaninii
but is considered in Hong's monograph just a variant of
P. delavayi.
There is a well-established plant at Cambridge Botanic Garden which forms good ground cover.
