Mucklestone Nurseries
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:13:52 AM »
Through searching for some dwarf shrubs I have come across this nursery.  The plant list is very comprehensive and I am wondering if any forumists have been and if so is it worth the trip?

They also have a nursery in East Kent. I have had some good plants from there.

Not a problem for me- went to this page :   http://www.botanyplants.co.uk/plants/ and chose the pdf  list which  opens - 104 pages.

Met the owner at a Plant Hunter's Fair last year, seemed very knowledgeable about his plants. The ones on his stall looked good, but then you would expect that, if you are trying to sell stuff.

We went yesterday.  Mucklestone is in the very middle of no-where.  There were a lot of plants and the lady who dealt with us was helpful and seemed to know where most things were.  The weather was dreadful and not condusive to spending time searching about. Not a great diversity or rarity of alpines and rather a lot of weed in the pots but we were able to buy one plant which Brian has wrestled into the rock garden.
