Pontus, if you can't find anything closer to home, I may be able to help with a VERY small offset. Mine is doing quite well, though just emerging from winter. Let me know how you get on and whether it would be possible for you to accept a piece from the other side of the world. It's in a pot and needs repotting - or better, planting out - anyway. :)

Thank you Leslie and Gerry,

Yes, even a small piece would be welcome Leslie. I suspect that New Zeeland customs are very strict when it comes to letting in bulbs or seeds into the country? I have quite a few things for you to propose as a swap, but these might be destroyed by customs....:(

I'll be planting out the iris very soon Pontus. Should have been done in the late summer but I was otherwise engaged then. Getting my iris collection sorted at present, with some lovely spring weather. I'll PM you in a few days re time of posting etc. Can you send me your postal address please?

You are right, our Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI, used to be MAF) won't let us bring in plants except under quarantine conditions and massive costs, and only some seeds, so don't worry about that. I'm FAR from needing more plants/seeds at present. They're coming out my ears almost. You are most welcome to have a small rhizome, with my compliments. So many people have been generous to me that I'm happy to return the favour, even if it's not to the same people, if you see what I mean. :)

Pontus, just found your question. I am pretty sure that you'll find this Iris in several Hardy Plant Nurseries in Switzerland but you will find it for sure in S. Germany at the Gräfin von Zeppelin Nursery, specialized in Iris!
