Well my birthday has been a non event for the last 60 years really. I seem to remember a dinner party for my 21st but nothing else stands out, except the lovely cards sent by some Forumists.
Talking of Chaucer, which we weren't really, I've just finished an excellent book called "A Burnable Book" by Bruce Holsinger who is, I think American but well versed in the England of the Middle Ages (1385). Shan't relate the story but read it if you have an opportunity. A jolly good yarn and about a period which interests me. I think I now know the reason why Magdalene College at Oxford is correctly pronounced as Maudlin or Maudlyn.
