BREAKING NEWS!

SRGC wins Gold at Gardening Scotland Show

31st May 2013

The dedicated team of SRGC volunteers who have worked hard to design, build and complete a stunning display on behalf of the Club at the country’s biggest horticultural show, ‘Gardening Scotland’ have had their efforts recognised by the award of a Gold Medal.

You can read the story  and see  photos of their progress to this success here in the SRGC Forum.   http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=10001.0
This year the Team, lead by Graham Wenham, in whose garage the project was created, was helped by sponsorship from Brightwater Holidays. http://www.brightwaterholidays.com/

Many congratulations to the golden SRGC Team – you have made the whole Club proud with your wonderful display. Well Done to all who contributed to this tremendous success!

The Gardening Scotland  Show takes place at Ingliston, near Edinburgh from 31st May to 2nd June.  http://www.gardeningscotland.com/

Sad loss to the SRGC Team - Graham Wenham dies.
« Reply #1 on: March 26, 2014, 01:15:43 PM »
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Graham Wenham  of the Edinburgh Group. Graham became well known  for his work for the wider Club membership on the SRGC Displays at Gardening Scotland and the Seed Exchange Distribution.
We send our sincere condolences to Mrs Wenham and their family.

From Stan da Prato, who worked closely with Graham on the displays and who had considerable admiration for Graham's courage in the face of his illness:

"Graham  passed away peacefully surrounded by  his family on 25th March. Graham  was a stalwart of the Edinburgh & Lothians group of the SRGC.  An engineer by profession he organised  the design  and building  of the club stand at Gardening  Scotland in the last two years. He also worked  on the  joint stand with Kevock in 2011.  He had known  for some years that his kidneys were not functioning properly but decided  not to have  dialysis. He felt it would interfere with his  many activities. He proceeded to  confound  medical opinion  but recently  his health deteriorated  and he told us in his calm way that he would not be available  to build the 2014 stand. The family have found it helpful to know  the high regard club members  had for  Graham - even people who had never met him  were aware of his contribution to the club."

We will post details of Graham's funeral when these are announced.
