Chionodoxa 2015
« on: March 16, 2015, 04:49:34 PM »
Hi here is a new addition to my garden, chionodoxa cretica, bought from Bob & Rannveig at buried treasure last autumn, I hadn't realised it was so small, I wonder if it might be better in a pot?

Here are three more chionodoxa species, inside to enjoy there flowers are c. forbesii & c. sardensis. In the pic below sardensis is on the left and forbesii on the right. In the garden, just starting to flower is c.luciliae, I've had this species for a while now and it's starting to spread itself around nicely.

Glory of the snow are appearing all over the garden now. Even popping up in the scree garden. They are the "common" species though.

Hi David I had heard that they were, but I prefer them as chionodoxa.

The RHS trials of these wee blue bulbs the  other year was actually called the trial of little blue bulbs  - to be honest, that works for me  because I have a lot of trouble distinguishing them , especially if I only see one at a time.   :-X :-\  :-[

Why do these people have to keep changing things Maggi? These bulb have been known as chionodoxa for as long as I can remember. Isn't there something going on about lumping hepatica and pulsatilla in with anenome?
