Looking for fresh seeds of Daphne tangutica
« on: July 01, 2012, 08:40:09 AM »
I am looking for FRESH seeds of Daphne tangutica. I have tried to get them germinated from a couple of commercial sources but because that seed was probably not very fresh no germination occurred. Even after 4 years nada e niente.

So now I am looking for fresh seed of this Daphne. Naturally I am willing to pay for the seeds (postage to the Netherlands and a decent payment for the seeds themselves).

Thanks in advance!

I collected seed of Daphne tangutica seed this morning and have just cleaned the pulp off.  Packet of 5 seeds £2 from www.specialplants.net.  I find them very slow, usually about 12 months.  Have read that washing the seed for 7 days helps, going to try that for mine.  good luck, Derry

Received the seeds on Friday and sowed them yesterday. Many thanks for your generosity Mike.

I have divided the seeds in 4 groups:

-- one group sown in a pot and placed outside
-- one group sown in pot and placed at room temperature (18-20 degrees Celsius)
-- one group placed in a baggie and put in the refrigerator (5 degrees Celsius) for 3-4 months, after that will be placed at room temperature
-- one group placed in a baggie and put at room temperature (20 degrees Celsius)

I will let the forumists know the results of this little experiment.

Hi, could you let us know the results of your Daphne tangutica experiment.  Which germinated best?
