Maggi,
I have never seen any pallasii with pale yellow syle before. C. pallasii must have red style!
Only C. pallasii subsp. dispahaceus has pale style but very short not like that one.
It might be a hybride with C. hadriaticus or C. cartwrightianus

Howard Clase sent me a picture of his chrysanthus seedling named for his grand-daughter 'Phoebe'.  We're all quite taken by this little charmer.  Here it is in flower in St. John's.

Nice one too John. Has Howard stopped posting with us now?

You took the words right out of my mouth, David - it's been such a long time since Howard participated in the forum.

Very nice to see this charming Crocus and perhaps John will be good enough to pass on our best wishes to Howard.

A great regret that  Mrs Clase, the  gentle Leila,  passed away last autumn.  A sad loss for Howard and their family.

David

I believe Howard follows the Forum on ocassion and I would think he follows the exciting Crocus threads.  We keep in touch by email.  Sadly his charming and very talented wife Leila passed away last autumn, she was an extremely keen gardener as well.  Maggi described her as gentle and I think that nicely sums up this fine lady, one of the finest people I have ever met.  Though they had recently moved Howard still tends their former garden.  That 'Phoebe' clump is likely at his new digs.
