Saxifraga for Id
« on: March 11, 2015, 02:34:03 PM »
Why oh why do labels fade without me realising it?
Can still read the last part of a long piece of writing and it says 'boi'

TIA.

I'm no expert Eric but having looked in Malcolm McGregor's book I would say Saxifraga x borisii. ".......Cushions of green foliage with multi-flowered stems of mid-yellow flowers....." There are umpteen named cultivars.

Having had another glare at the label, the last part of the name is x wendelboi. I really should list the things I buy when I buy them.
Thanks.

Potterton's lists a S. kotschyi x wendelboi, which looks remarkably similar.

Thank-you, that is the one.  Strangely unlike most of my Saxifrages I do not have a baby stashed away somewhere else, in case. Cuttings frame here we come.
