Newsletter from the Scottish Gardeners' Forum
« on: June 10, 2014, 09:07:29 AM »
The Scottish Gardeners’ Forum exists to provide the communication link between Scotland’s many horticulturally-oriented organisations, more than a hundred of which are members.

The SGF membership is uniquely focused on Societies rather than individuals. The Forum’s objectives as expressed in its Constitution are:

to advance education in the knowledge and best practice of all aspects of gardening and horticulture for the public benefit in Scotland;

to foster co-operation among general and specialist Horticultural and Gardening Societies/ Clubs/ Associations/ Branches for their mutual benefit;

to encourage the retention and development of existing and new Societies;

to provide a voice for the non-professional sector of gardening in Scotland.

Thank you Maggie for telling SRGC members about the Scottish Gardeners Forum. If anyone visited the Pallet and Planter area at Gardening Scotland they may or may not have picked up that it is organised by the SGF. Schools, Youth organisations and gardening clubs can enter either a Pallet or a Planter exhibit for this area of Gardening Scotland. It is a great opportunity to be part of something big in a small way. It is a good way to stimulate interest in gardening whatever the age. There is no set theme to curb the imagination and it is a great way to teach children and adults to work together for the good of their group. Details can be found via their website. If insurance costs are threatening the existence of any Flower and Veg show, member clubs can access competitive rates via the SGF. They keep and regularly update lists of speakers.
