Name that Fungi
« on: September 20, 2015, 11:44:23 AM »
I have just been photographing a fungi  that I cannot recall seeing in the garden before can any one name it for me?

It is very delicate and the cap curls back to form a cup, it has a hollow stem that collapses within a day or so of them opening.

Ian, it's one of the Inkcaps (Coprinopsis, Coprinus genera). There are a lot of them and many need microscopy to get to species.

Thanks that makes sense Chris, when I saw the wee hairy shoots pushing through I thought they were of the shaggy inkcap it was only as they opened that realised they were something else.
