Very nice, Hans. This is a species I do not grow...or know. What can you tell us about it?

Of course Hans! I should have checked the PBS wiki first. Thanks.

Interesting for me to note that of the species/varieties covered, A. tingitana is the only one I am not growing at present...(actually, of the now defunct varieties of autumnalis, I don't have pulchellum in the flock either).

I love these little guys...

Well done! I'll look forward to a report on your success...

Are you growing the other species as well?

Carlo - this should be not a problem ...I make every year seeds from all my Leucojum / Acis

Please look :

I grow the most of this genus ....mostly in pots - only A.autumnalis is possibly for me outside

Hans,

Thanks for the reference to the old thread. Have you followed up with a determination on the sp. from Greece (which you thought was valentinum)? It is beautiful.

I grow and bloom them all in pots under lights at the moment--and have autumnalis and nicaeensis outside. I'll try rosea there as well when I have enough to spare...

Carlo ,

I have from valentium until only seedlings for comparison ....I have to wait .
From these seeds from spec. Greece I have send seeds to other members here ....I will wait that they thinks ....

I have tried nicaense and roseum outside ...but it works not so well ...after some years fewer and fewer ..
I grow my Acis in my greenhouse - without any problems -no additional ligth ...

Before 3 years I saw by a trip in Corsica wild growing A. rosea ( +Scilla autumnalis ) - it was unforgetable !

...I've seen Acis autumnalis in the wild in the Algarve in Portugal, growing with a very small blue flowered bulb that I have not yet identified...

It's a wonderful thing to see plants (that we know in cultivation) in their wild homes...

I do like tingitana.  Always flowers well and such a lovely pure white.  Reasonable size, although still small enough to be delicate.  A lovely species to grow.  Here at the moment we have lots of the autumnalis in flower, their little white lanterns along the path or in clumps in a couple of places.  No sign of roseum as yet, but shouldn't be long.... if it is going to flower this year (it varies from year to year as it doesn't thrive for me unfortunately).  Great pic of a great plant Hans.
Cheers.

Min winter temp -8 or -9°C. Max summer temp 40°C. Thankfully, maybe once or twice a year only.

Hi Hans,
Thank you for the pics and to speak of these soft fine plants that I like too. I grow very well Acis nicaense in pot and in the garden. One of my origins is from above Monaco (La Turbie) where it grows with Colchicum arenarium and Crocus versicolor. If you have seeds of your tingitanum and other, note me please on your waiting list ! I grow too autumnale and roseum from Corsica, and seedling of trichophylla. I cherch valentina.
I look at the classification of Acis and I discover Acis fabrei, endemic in France (Vaucluse) an endangered plant. Whom know it or grow it ? I would be very glad to have it in collection and conservatory
