The same crocus?
« on: March 29, 2016, 05:29:04 PM »
I ask opinion specialists. I bought crocus vernus in two different stores. It should be known that in Belgium we speak several languages; French, German and Flemish. He bought in the French speaking store under the name of crocus vernus' Jeanne d'Arc 'does not you think you it not the same as purchased in the store Flanders Province as the Crocus vernus' Weib?

1) Crocus vernus 'Jeanne d'Arc'

2) Crocus vernus 'Weib'

... Crocus vernus' Weib?

Yes they look similar, at least to this non-specialist ;).  Perhaps it's a mangled version of weiß (wit, white)?

Both plants have flowers with very fine purple veins that run through the petals

Both seem to be the same, but not 'Jeanne d'Arc'. Jeanne d'Arc has pure white flowers without any stripes with blue striped upper part of flower tube (as in picture from Gabriela).
