That must be getting on for 7 feet long now, Roma?

I think it is, Maggi.  I will measure it when I remove the corpse.  The other one which started flowering earlier is a bit shorter with smaller flowers so I particularly want to get seeds off this one.

This was a surprise yesterday.  I hadn't even noticed the flower spike developing.  Unfortunately too late to get seed.

Meconopsis staintonii

It's still flowering 8 flowers open yesterday before the wind got too strong.  Then there was heavy rain so it looks a bit shredded today.  The seed pods look fat but i'm not sure the'll ripen now.
I pulled up the 2 plants of Meconopsis wallichii today.  The little one was over 6 foot and the bigger one about 8 foot 6.  The seed pods on it do not look promising but I collected a few and hope there are a few viable seeds among the dust.

Meconopsis  (infertile Blue Group)  out of season, out of focus

Most Meconopsis are now dormant we are concerned about this very wet Autumn the ground is saturated roots will maybe rot as we approach the shortest day and head for Spring look forward to better weather next year.  I have several Monocarpic Meconopsis rosettes just now look great will post . M. staintonii and M. superba.  cheers Ian the Christie kind.

 The warm soggy weather cannot be good for any of us - or our plants.  The over=wintering rosettes won't enjoy it much either I suppose., even though they look so pretty  with their  rainy "diamonds"
