Autumn snowdrop day ???

A question for the hive mind here  , I may have asked it last year but here goes . If it could be arranged for an autumn snowdrop thing when would suit the majority of you who'd potentially want to come along ? Would you want lectures /plant sale / lunch ?

I have replied elsewhere already but what struck me when I was thinking about this is how bare the months of November, December and January are for plant-related events.  Taking the RHS as an example, they have a London 'Shades of Autumn' show at the end of October then nothing until 'Early Spring' in mid February.  At a local level there are plenty of talks going on during these winter months but little if anything in the way of shows and fairs.  Of course November to January are quiet months for garden activity but it doesn't halt completely and you might well be thinking about planting trees and shrubs - or admiring the early snowdrops.

For the local SRGC groups  (and for the AGS groups too  tho' some have longer extended seasons)  the months from September to April are the  main months when local meetings' talks  are held - so not exactly moribund times for us!

Yes, that's absolutely true Maggi.  My local Gardening Club, for example, has a programme of talks running from October to April.  But what is absent during November, December and January is any larger events.  One could imagine, for example, a Bare Root Fair - but I've never heard of one.

A Bare Root Fair - which I imagine would involve selling bare-rooted plants - would not be a good bet in Scottish weather I fear.

That's what I envisaged, Maggi.  I do appreciate that it only works if your winters are sufficiently mild but that does often happen down south - there has to be something to compensate for living so far away from Scotland!
