Not fully open yet but I suspect this red will be the best of the Roscoea purpurea 'Red Gurkha' seedlings selfed this year.  The seed was a swap with a a most generous fellow in Cornwall.

Wow! That's a very good red John. Were all the seedlings red in various shades?

It seems that most of them actually enjoy cooler temperatures. My Roscoea schneideriana is also having a great time; its first season spent in the ground.
