Jobs jobs jobs
« on: March 14, 2017, 08:03:12 PM »
Late acquisitions continuing to arrive and are potted up.
Late bloomers being photographed.
First spray of snowdrops with plant growth (seaweed extract) completed. Takes two days with a watering can, with a day between of heavy rain to replenish the three water butts.
Anti-fungicide spray lined up for 10 days time (also 2 days).
Second plant growth (tomato feed) scheduled for first week in April, followed by a Provado spray in mid-April to prepare the bulbs for narcissus fly. Selective application of Jeyes fluid planned for mid-May.
300 lattice pots of snowdrops identified for lifting in June. New larger lattice pots acquired and ready for June planting (the smaller ones used till now restrict the roots of the bigger bulbs too much).
Twinscaling programme not yet planned.
The whole collection to be re-labelled during August and September. :(
That leaves July. July is CRICKET. :D And sleep.

Gosh! Do you recommend that feeding/pesticide regime to all Galanthus growers?

Steve, how effective is the provado spray against narcissus fly? I am plagued with them and am sure that i have lost lots of snowdrops because of them.

Ralph
Not if they have no problems with stagonospora or other fungal diseases, narcissus fly or swift moth.

Gary
Well, its not scientific, but I have noticeably fewer problems with narcissus fly grubs since I started spraying the bulbs two years ago whilst still growing with Provado, which is a systemic and so absorbed by the bulbs.
