Back in very early March I crossed 2 N. cyclamineus in the cold greenhouse in the hope of producing seed. I say "in the hope" as I'cannot recall f these are siblings or close relatives, that can inhibit compatibility. In any case 2 fat seed pods were forming by the 21st of March. Next day I noticed one stem was snapped off and stuck in a water-filled floral tube, the kind used for corsages. Seems Ken accidentally knocked broke the stem, a few days later he confessed & my typical response "good luck with that". This evening - 2 months and 5 days later - Ken's pod had split open and neatly dropped its seed into a full Haws watering can sitting on the floor 1m below the bench, my pod was just splitting & yellowing.
Results
Ken - 17 good fat seeds recovered from the Haws,
Me - 11 good fat seeds and 4 hollow seeds.
Crow for supper.
