Zoom Talk from The Caley - open to all.
« on: October 02, 2020, 05:38:36 PM »

The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society (The Caley) is Scotland’s national horticultural and gardening society. It  aims to encourage and improve the science, art and practice of all types of horticulture and to advance education in gardening and horticulture for everyone.

From the  latest  issue  of   The  Caley  News :

"Well, judging by the temperatures the last couple of mornings, I think autumn has arrived! We have been fortunate in that the still conditions have allowed the temperatures to recover during the day, making for very pleasant gardening conditions. If you grow fruit and vegetables you will be busy harvesting. If you also have an ornamental garden you will be enjoying the last flowers of the season and be busy undertaking or planning improvements. Perhaps even considering what plants to add to your garden?  At this time of year with the soil still warm, autumn really is Nature’s time for planting.

The weather earlier this year- the long dry spring, coupled with still conditions and cool nights - will hopefully make this year an above-average year for autumn colour to be enjoyed in our own gardens; in the many fine gardens we have here in Scotland; and across the magnificent wider landscape. Fingers crossed the wind and rain stay away!

The wider COVID-19 situation continues to be challenging for so many on many different levels and, with this in mind, the first Caley winter talk will be online.
Anthony McCluskey, Project Officer for Butterfly Conservation will talk on “Gardening for Butterflies and Moths” on Tuesday 6th October.

Please follow the link and register for the talk:  https://thecaley.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0f2e7596036761b1fb297e986&id=7b82fcdabd&e=133cda3de5
