Death of Ken Beckett - from the AGS site:
"We have just received the sad news of the death of Kenneth (Ken) Beckett. Ken was a renowned plantsman and distinguished author who lived near Kings Lynn in Norfolk. His garden was packed full of interesting, unusual and rare plants. His plant interests were catholic. Amongst his books are ‘The Contained Garden’, ‘Growing under Glass’, ‘Fuchsias’, The RHS Encyclopedia of House Plants’, Gardening Basics’ and ‘Greenhouse Gardening’. Alpine gardeners will be deeply grateful to him for his tireless work in editing the ‘AGS Encylopaedia of Alpines’."
Another sad loss of a talented author and plantsman who has dozens of books to his name, sometimes in co-authorship with the likes of Chris Brickell and Alan Titchmarsh.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him or enjoyed his books. We send condolences to Gillian and all family and friends.
