Death of Dr Keith Lever of Aberconwy Nursery
« on: July 13, 2018, 06:20:29 PM »
Tragic death of Dr Keith Lever

Members will be aware of the marvelous Aberconwy Nursery, run by the Lever Family in Wales. It is with great sadness that we report the peaceful death, after an illness, of Dr Keith Lever of Aberconwy. One of the alpine world's real stars, to family and friends alike, Keith's expertise as a nurseryman was legendary and he will be much missed in that capacity as well as for his many other talents. Rachel Lever and their son, Tim of the nursery are as well-known and respected as Keith and we send them and all the family our sincere condolences at this very sad time.

We were talking to Tim at Solihull and he said that the tumour had returned, but that Keith felt that more treatment was not worth it. Such a sad thing, though at least he did not have to suffer a long drawn out painful illness. The world of alpines has lost a truly great man.

Very sad to hear this news and our sympathy goes to Tim and the rest of the family. I look round our crevice garden and see literally dozens of plants that come from Aberconwy. These will help us remember and be thankful for Keith every time we look at them.
