I don't suppose anyone has a bulb or seeds of Moraea macronyx available at all?

Aha - I will do - possibly in time for a UK sowing :)

Do you hand-pollinate or do you find plants set seed fine without that?

Hi Rob,
I find that hand pollination is the only way to be sure to get seeds.
Today the two types were in flower so I was able to cross pollinate them,

I've just sowed a few batches of other SA bulb seeds, so I'm just tagging onto this thread here to remind that these need pollinating, or see if there has been any successful seed-set :)

Hi Rob,
it looks like the hand-pollination was successful, but we'll wait to see when the pod dries out!
cheers

Just posting an update..... seeds arrived safely and had high germination rate last autumn/winter. The pot has started onto growth again now, but far less of the seedlings seem to have pulled through dormancy. Still - very pleased to now have plants! :)

Hi Rob,
glad you got good germination and hopefully you'll get some to flowering size soon.
I'm hopefully going to have some for the seed exchange this year - ripening now!
cheers
