I have some seeds of Alstroemeria werdermannii yellow form and Leontochir ovallei left. If you like, you can have them in exchange for the bulbs.

Hi Kathy,
You probably noticed that my post  offering these bulbs was made last year. Strangely, despite how desirable a plant Placea is, no one asked for them! This year, all my bulbs are already potted and growing so it's too late to send anything. I do have some Placea seeds available if you are interested. If so, send me a private message with your address and I'll post them for you. Below is a picture of my adult bulbs flowering earlier this year against a backdrop of Leucocorynes in flower.

Sorry  to hear there  were  no requests for your  bulbs  last  year, Paul - that's  a  similar story  to the  one  we  hear  from Hans J. - beats  me  why  there  is  so little response to these  great offers - but  at least  I'll know  in future  not  to hold  back to leave  room for  others!!  Many  thanks  for your  kind  efforts  to benefit  members!!

I am pleased that this topic has in the end led to several people asking for these Placea seeds, so please note they have all now gone (Kathy I have kept a few back for you once you manage to contact me).

Forum member Yvain Dubois pointed out to me that "maybe some people don't reply to offers because they don't have (or don't think they have) anything to swap back'. I think this may be a good observation. For me, I am more than happy to share things without any expectation of something in return, and I know many other forum members are the same, so perhaps we should make this clear when we offer seeds or bulbs. Maybe then everyone would feel happier to request things.

Hi Paul ,

how do you have stored your Placea seeds ?

I still have many seeds from my Rhodophiala bifida ....and all those Amaryllid seeds have only a short viability

Thanks for your Rhodophiala seeds which have arrived safely. As regards storage, I find that although seeds of Amaryllids in general have short viability, the ones with papery seeds like Rhodophiala will store much longer than the ones that have fleshy fruits. So a few months storage is OK for the papery ones. I keep them at room temperature. I collect Placea seed when it is ready in late Spring and keep it until September when I sow it. So it is about 4 months old when it gets sown and this does not seem to be a problem.

the seeds arrived today,  I didn’t expect it would go so fast
I soaked them immediately and afterwards put them into the fridge, as you recommended
