You may remember  that Anne  shared  with us  in the  Forum the  story  of  her  wonderful garden building.....the  Construction of an Historic Garden Building- http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=11667.0

In true  television fashion, the  feature  will only  be  a  few  minutes  long- but  it  will be  fun to see  the moving  pictures!  Again the  link for  repeats .....

Well.... I wasn't exactly thrilled with what they made of 5 hours of filming - on the one day in 6 weeks when it rained.
Who wants to see me or strange garden implements? I was hoping they would show and talk about plants! But that is German Garden TV for you...

If you don't want to learn lots about gherkins (in German!) scroll forward to min. 23:40. But I'm afraid you won't learn much about my garden either! - So here is a little information:

The gravel garden was created because I wanted to have a sunny planting for dry conditions (and getting dryer by the year) which would look good year round. My gravel is fine lava and it is about 25 - 30 cm deep above fertile loam. Ideal for a number of plants like Echinacea, Salvias, some Asters, tall Sedums etc. I am happily testing more than 150 different plants at the moment. Some are more happy than others.

I am a great admirer of layered planting concepts (succession planting) and after a few years now I am happy to say there is something nice to look at year round in my gravel garden and blooms from late February to the first frosts in November.
