Botanical booksellers

We all know about the large bookseller A-----, however there are many other useful sources for those with a botanical or natural history interest:

https://www.summerfieldbooks.com/ - this is my favourite; the service is excellent and the range extensive as they scour the world for appropriate publications. They have retail premises near Penrith, Cumbria which are certainly worth browsing and taking the opportunity to discuss matters with Paul and his knowledgeable team. They issue pre-publication offers and an email newsletter.Pual and his team attend BSBI events (subject to Covid regs, of course)

https://www.pemberleybooks.com/ - they often have some excellent second-hand botanical books  though the primary focus is on entomology. I've used their services and found them also excellent. Again pre-publication offers if you sign up for their informative newsletter.

https://www.mikeparkbooks.com/ - well- known botanical specialist with a wide selection (really good on Andean plants, succulents and cacti). Mike occasionally visits plant shows.

https://ukbookworld.com/cgi-bin/search.pl?s_i_keywords=alpines - this is a search engine for smaller bookshops in the UK. Occasionally one alights on a real discovery.

https://www.westwoodbooks.co.uk/  - well stocked book shop in Sedbergh, Yorkshire Dales (only 7 miles off M6) with new (reduced price) and second-hand stock. https://www.nhbs.com/ - well known with comprehensive stock as well as being the publishers of the truly excellent British Wildlife magazine (https://www.britishwildlife.com/ )for those serious about natural history of these islands

https://www.loebooks.co.uk/index.php - good selection and reasonable prices (second hand mainly)

http://www.courthaybooks.co.uk/ - gardening specialist

and finally a site https://www.musicmagpie.co.uk/store/where I found a book on the Solis of the Tien Shan for just £3.99 which was listed on Amazon for considerable more - you'll be staggered at the difference(https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soils-Central-Tien-Shan-Mamytov/dp/0706506138). Music magpie doesn't focus on books so its pot luck and worth checking on infrequently.
