In the greenhouse spring bulbs started to popup, Bellevalia are usually the first to show their bells.

Thank you sharing the photographs of Muscari and relatives. I grow a few species, but know next to nothing about most others. Your photographs help stir my curiosity about these plants.

Any one really really interested in Muscari might like to look at this recently published paper in Taxon.
 
Even if you find the details of the scientific elements of the research a little too much, the history of the taxonomy and the descriptions of the sub genera and images are interesting.  Helpful to anyone wanting to know more about these lovely plants.

Thanks Deb A for this paper.
Very interesting as it confirms for the n-th time that Muscari should be seen as only one genus and Leopoldia, Muscarimia and co are just sub-genus. No need to split.

Even on a cold grey day in East Anglia Muscari inconstrictum appears to glow in the gloom.  Lovely flowering bulb from seed sown back in Jan 20, supplier by Oron Peri.
