Could someone help me with a name for these? The first one is about 30cm/1 foot and was sowed as Iris tenax. The second is about 50-60cm, and showed up in a bed where I may have recycled some seed compost.
Thanks!

Hello,
the first one looks like a form of Iris ensata (I don't know which cultivar) and the second one looks more like Iris tenax

Thanks Wim! I did a bit of googling, and found an ensata relative,
Iris hookeri 'Monstrosa'
, which looks pretty close.
The standards on #2 look too small for tenax, I wonder if it could be yet another setosa, or possibly a wild form of ensata?

You're welcome,
The first one could indeed be Iris hookeri 'monstrosa'.
I think the second one is closer to Iris setosa (

) than Iris ensata. Normally Iris setosa is smaller than Iris ensata.

Wim here is a 'normal' Iris hookeri

Luit, the first picture doesn't look like a "normal" Iris hookeri but it has a lot of resemblance to the "monster" form
Thanks for the picture

The first one looks like some of the more modern Iris sibirica breeding (by that I mean once they started getting into the more prominent standards, not just bigger falls etc).

Cheers.
