Lovely photos George.  Welcome to the 'madhouse' that is Show reporting.  You exhibited some wonderful plants on Saturday and Diane confirmed that you were, in fact, 'veteran vet' AFTER I insisted that a veteran vet could be of either gender!!

I commend your taste... Roscoea humeana alba is a great favourite.... just the most perfect flower.

I have never seen a Physoplexis like that Farrer plant... what a bosker!!

Interestingly enough, Lewisis leeana alba was also in the running for a Forrest in Aberdeen. More pix  from that show in the next few days as time permits.

Hi Maggie, may not have seen you but being so active on the forum I am aware that you are as busy as ever. As you might have guessed the Roscoea humeana alba was from Ron MacBeath, had it for several years I suppose. I was at the nursery one day at the right time, one to spare so a bit of arm twisting and I had it. I do agree it is a pristine white which makes it very eye catching. I found out at Southport that it should set seed and I now know where to look for it, I gather that some will come white, other people I talked to say their seedlings sometimes had a faint pink tinge

Cliff, the unamed plant is an Armeria maritima, there is a clonal name but I have mislaid the label since Southport. It is another plant from Ron MacBeath, I believe he brought it back from a trip to Norway, possibly the SRGC one to Tromso?

Hi all, Thanks for letting me see my home show (I live 1/2 Mile from the venue). I was away last weekend & I didn't even have one suitable plant to send in my absence!
 Where did E Lancs crowd go to eat?

The 'Shrimper' is about right Cliff. It's about 400m from my house as the Avocet flies & i've never even been in there!

As an indication of nothing at all really, I thought I would mention that my Physoplexis comosa is only just coming into bloom here in the foothills of the Pennines - a good nine or ten weeks after Roger Beecham gained another well-deserved Farrer Medal with his 'Devil's-claw' at Southport AGS Show, just a decent bike ride away from here. (Fortunately I don't possess a decent bike)!
