Androsace mucronifolia??
« on: August 24, 2008, 08:39:38 AM »
Hello everybody,
Yesterday we were in Slovakia and I purchased some alpine plants. There is one labelled as Androsace mucronifolia, but I think that it is not. But what it is then? Has anybody any idea?
Thanks.

Kathrine,
the plant is Androsace sempervivoides. Some years ago it was a common mistake to call it A. mucronifolia, here in Czechia at least. I see that that mistake is still alive. I enclose here a picture of the true Androsace mucronifolia. Diameter of its rosettes is only about 10 mm.

Thank you very much Zdenek.
I thought it's rosettes were too large also for A. sempervivoides, but if YOU say it is sempervivoides, I believe.  :)
Thanks a lot for your quick help.

Thanks from me too, not for the A. sempervivoides ID which I did know but for confirming that my A. mucronifolia IS A, mucronifolia. I was a bit doubtful about it. Though mine is somewhat greyer green in the rosette., not so bright. Too wet for pics at present.
