Trillium and Clintonia

I'm looking for Trillium undulatum and Trillium nivale. I had ordered them both from Jürgen Peters but they are sold out. The same with clintonia andrewsiana which I had ordered from Edrom nurseries, their stock seems to have rotted 

Anybody knows where I could buy these species elsewhere?

Hello Wim,

I would be surprised that any nursery would be supplying Trillium undulatum, they would have to be dug up from the wild or very skilled at growing this species as its supposingly a very hard one to grow.

Your best searching for seeds, try kristl Walek of Gardens North Seeds of the World or Jan at Eagle Rock Farms, a specialists in Trillium seeds.

The problem with T undulatum is that it needs a cool climate. I think that it would be difficult in Belgium.
Ask me priovately next summer. I might have seedlings then.

Hello,

A lot of people seem to give me the advice not to grow the Trilliums. I think I'll let go off the idea to grow T. undulatum. I still want to try T. nivale. 

I have found the Clintonia at Cotswold Garden Flowers (thanks to Robin and Clint Callens) but it's a bit expensive (post & packing charges). Is there anyone who knows a cheaper alternative.

Thimble Farms has Trillium nivale in their possession, but do not list it on their website. Possibly they have not propagated a sufficient quantity to sell since receiving starts several years ago.

You might write them and inquire. I believe they ship internationally.

A tip on growing this plant: it is native to areas with soils neutral to limey, so a dose of lime from time to time may help it if your native soils are acid. Each of the 2.5 liter pots I keep it in receives annually about 10 ml by volume of ground limestone, over and above the lime in the JI-like potting mix I use.

Also, it seems to be a martyr to the slugs here, though I've never caught one red-handed (or is that leaf-mawed?) Possibly I am maligning an innocent mollusk and some other critter chews on this trillium

Wim - If it is Clintonia borealis that you want I may be able to send you seeds or roots. It is a native here and in the south where I have a planting it can be a real pest.  However it is well-behaved in the garden. I will check the next time I am down there if I can find remains.

I have Clitonia andrewsiana in my garden, but it is too late to divide it. I am interested in exchange with Trillium. If you still are you interested, you can send me an email in spring. If I can not divide it, I would like to send you some seeds next year.
