Just started to flower now in the bulb frame, small species from Crete growing in pure sand.

That is lovely Fred. I have never seen such a good pic of this plant. :) I need another greenhouse! ;D Too many plants. Too little space! :-\ I think a letter to Santa is called for! ;D

I haven't grown this plant - which is the more typical flower form, please? - the one with the stripes on the petals or the plain version? Both are beautiful.

The striped one seems to be the typical form but I've never seen them in flower in the wild !

Here is another Androcymbium,

Androcymbium palaestinum, this plant is common in semi desert areas in Israel and Jordan,
In some areas it makes literally carpets consist by thousands plants.

As in the case of A. reichingerii it appears in these two forms white and spotted  one, I suspect it has to do with pollinators that visit during day time and others by night [white form].

I have seen the first one this year but in a few weeks they will all be in flower,pick time is mid December to mid January
