Arabis
« on: March 21, 2009, 11:56:43 AM »
I AM NEW TO ALPINES-

I have what looks like an Arabis and has longer shinny green 1.5inch oblong leaves and the flowers are very small clustered up stalk-several flowerlets. It looks very similar to Arabis flowers however and most similar to fernandii coburnii(cant remember name exactly) as it has shinny leaves, very similar flowers. However it has never been variegated as I got it off my dad. Readers digest and RHS books dont say there is a green shinny leaf one-as i say flowers and growth do look very similar. where do I get a free source of photos which is more extensive ,and any other suggestions appreciated thanks!(what is cost of english and scottish alpine societys to join?)

Also I am after this Aubrieta is this delitoidea and which pink cultivator is it? Also are cultivars only for vegetative production and seed production called varieties.

Also if it does have 'red' in the name i'd rather have the deepest pink delitoida with no mention of red in cultivar or variety name. THANKS FOR HELP WITH ARABIS OR AURBRIETA QUESTIONS

Hello, again!
I don't seem to have too many shots of Arabis to share so I can only suggest you "google"  images of
Arabis ferdinandi-coburgi 'Variegata' and 'Old Gold' and also Arabis and Arabis procurrens ... you will come with quite a selection which I hope will help you.

Arabis ferdinandi-coburgi often makes shiny plain green-leaved sections.
