Plants new to me
« on: May 24, 2009, 01:10:18 PM »
I visited a garden with our North Northumberland Group last week, chock full of wonderful and interesting plants, enough to make my mouth water.  Some were plants I knew but the ones below are plants I don't know.

the first was growing spreading into gravel nicely, just the sort of thing I can usually succeed with here

the second and third are the same plants, one shows the flowers the other the foliage

the last one I just dont know what it might be.

All are likely to be quite choice plants though, knowing the garden owner.

I pretty sure the last one is Paederota bonarota; grows in crevices and in cracks in the mountains.
The first one could be Veronica bombycina but I am by no means sure about that one.

The last is definitely the Paedorota. I have lost mine. It didn't come up last spring and I regret it and I really loved it. Had it for years, don't know why it should have died. :'(

The first one looks like Collomia debilis but I'm not sure

I never would have picked those middle ones as a Primula, but the flower does look right.  What a leaf for a Primula!!  :o  Amazing.

Many thanks all for your expertise.  I thought that second one looked like a primula from the flower, but the leaf looked wrong and I've not come across it before.  I had no idea about the other two though.

The first one looked familiar to me but I could not remember the name.  I agree with Wim.  It is Collomia debilis.

Another to add to my seed list then Roma, thanks.  It was growing and spreading nicely in the gravel.
