Christmas Season Competition !!ONE

It's that time again, Folks! I know you have been waiting excitedly all year for this moment to arrive and I have great pleasure in now announcing the SRGC 2007 Festive Season Quiz!!
This quiz will run until early in January 2008, to give all those idle Forumists who are off on extended holidays a chance to take part.
So, what is this year's seasonal silliness? ... I hear you cry!
This year our subject is
"MATCH THE FLOWER TO THE FORUMIST"
IDEA IS TO POST A FLOWER PHOTO AND STATE WHICH FORUMIST IT REPRESENTS... AND WHY....
At the end of the entry period, there will be time for everyone to consider the entries and vote, in various categories, for their winners...
So, to start things off and to give some examples of different angles that you may use to approach the quiz......
I give you ( pinching a pic from Thomas Huber!)
Dryas octopetala
...
I state this to represent our esteemed President, Ian of the Christie kind, because this lovely flower is the emblem of the SRGC and Ian is our chief, so the two go together perfectly... also, Ian has the honest charm of the Dryas, too ( now that should get extra points from at least one voter, eh? )
getting the idea?
Here's another.....
Epigaea gaultherioides
.. a reproduction from an old pic in the Journal....
This equates to ME! Maggi... it is one of my favourite ericaceae... fairly rare, not the easiest to keep happy and stunningly beautiful.... need I say more??

Naturally, as Forum Dogsbody, I am not eligible for any prize.... so the rest of you had better get your thinking caps on and get your entries flooding in
I suppose that we need not restrict ourselves to matching Forumists... there could be a category for "Other Folks"... but please be mindful of the laws of libel etc!!
By the way... a "dogsbody", for anyone in doubt, is a diligent, over-worked person... used for all manner of mundane, thankless and generally unpleasant tasks.... luckily my work here fails to meet the majority of those criteria!!

hoorah! I was saying to the other half just this week that no SRGC Christmas competition had been started yet. I had thought one up that I was going to start but had such a hectic week that it never got going.
Hmmm, now what plant am I?.....
thanks Maggie,

For Franz in Austria - Gentiana angustifolia.
The trumpet gentian is a classic Alpine flower, appropriate for a venerable connoisseur of alpines. A true gentleman who has shared his passion and his plants with enthusiasts around the world.

And for the Bulb Despot, Crocus laeviagatus. It is small but perfectly formed(!), has a long season of flowering interest and brightens our autumn and winter days.... Guess I should really be looking for something that flowers all year round then?
Now for Mrs Bulb-Despot ... hmmm

Not at all, Diane,
I'm sure not even the sniff of chocolate enters the Young household of a Christmas or any other time of the year.
Now, what flower to suggest - well, I'll have to think on that one!

I'll bump this thread up by posting an orchid representing Anthony Darby.
Ophrys apifera X tenthredinifera was posted by the bug buff in this thread
http://www.srgc.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=376.225
If he hadn't already been nominated for the best photo of the year I might have put this forward.

Aha, a "B" orchid with its own bug.... that's a really good one, Rob!
Still smarting slightly from the accuracy of Diane's suggestion for me, that I'm a hopeless chocoholic who isn't even on this planet.....

Jings! Lagging behind on this - partly because I can't get on the computer edgeways because the anklebiters have discovered MSN and Bebo.
Merry Christmas everyone.
