Which Senecio is this?
« on: September 09, 2009, 09:30:35 AM »
David Ruston at Renmark, South Australia had this lovely plant in flower in August. David says it is a Senecio.
Anyone know which one? It is frost tender and has lovely felty leaves.
The contrast between the yellow petals and the brown centres is particularly striking.

With the soft leaves of that shape, Pat, I'd suggest Senecio petasites

Yes, petasites. It's tender here.

Thanks ladies I will let David and the Landscaper students know.
David did say it had babies around it as it roots where some of the branches touch the ground.

I have an idea too that if i's growing in a conducive climate, it shoots from broken bits of root. In a really mild climate it could be something of a problem.
