My first attempt at posting using some pictures of the pallet competitions at GS.-hopefully at the right size. Over 50 entries this year with the majority in the schools section where considerable ingenuity was on display. Jin Dickson, chair of Scottish Gardeners’ Forum and pallet comp. coordinator, deserves credit for the encouragement he gives to the schools. Fewer entries in the gardening clubs/societies class where our North Berwick in Bloom pallet using old footwear left over from a charity collection for Africa won. Cove near Aberdeen also had gold with a seaside theme. Colinton GC had a third gold with a pallet on the plight of the polar bear. Many schools had entries based on conservation or growing vegetables e.g. grow you own pizza or grow your own soup. A new class this year allowed schools to enter containers again with some ingenious efforts.
