Roscoea
« on: August 08, 2010, 04:58:36 PM »
Hi Folks,  Here is a Roscoea I was given a couple of years ago, it came from Chen Yi but we don't know the species.  If you have any idea I'd be most grateful.  It grows about 12 - 18 inches tall.

Maggi, its done it again.  I try to upload and it hangs, so I think it hasn't registered, then go out, come in and find its not there so I do it again and voila, its here already.  Please delete one of them.  Many thanks

I've removed the "spare" Christine..... I sometimes find that sort of hiccup happens.... always a good idea to go back to the main page and refresh it to see if the post/thread has gone through!  Ah, the joys of technology, eh? !!  :D

Hello Christine, I am no expert on Roscoea, but I grow Roscoea purpurea Peacock which looks very similar and is a large form with crinkled lower lip.

Thanks everyone.  I've been away a few days, just got back.  I'll keep both these suggestions in mind for it.  Sure is a nice plant.  Flowers again and again....

This is my Roscoea auriculata. I think it is very similar. For comparision I added Roscoea purpurea which is different in details as lip and contrasting white edges.

Gosh, Rob, that does look very much like mine.  Its that central white 'hood' that differs some from purpurea.  Thanks for your help.
