Seed exchange 64 - number 5150

Number 5150 is listed as "Iris spp" and the seeds look about right. What puzzles me is that the (wild) collection area is listed as Southern Brazil, which would be quite an extension for the genus, unless someone can tell me otherwise....  So I'm assuming it is actually an unidentified member of the Iris family rather than the genus?

Will see what I can do Lesley. They look very like seed of the Iris sibirica group in shape and size, but black in colour.

I have seen a lot of Dietes bicolor been planted in South Brasil. It does originate from South Africa however. The seeds were about 3-4 mm black and more or less rounded as I remember well. Of course this is only a wild guess.

Thank you Rob - I also was wondering about this possibility,  i.e. a naturalised Iris or Iris-like plant rather than a native Brazilian Irid.

May be a Neomarica or Tropical Iris?
The seeds I have made of then are not so round, and brown, but I have only two species.
The shape maybe more like Iris Lousianna seeds but very little(3 to 4 mm. long per 2 mm.). Other seeds that look very much as the ones I'm describing are Dietes Vegeta seeds.
