SRGC Group Meetings Cancelled- bad weather!

The SRGC Meeting tomorrow night Friday 26th November 2010 in the New Elgin Hall Annex , Elgin, has been cancelled because of the bad weather.

Too much horrible snow and bad road conditions.

Aberdeen Group Meeting  Tuesday  30th November - Cancelled


Dear Members of the Scottish Rock Garden Club / Aberdeen Rock Garden Club Group,

 I regret to inform you that the SRGC Aberdeen Meeting on Tusday 30th November has been cancelled. 
The weather is horrible and show no sign of improving. We regret that it is not possible to re-arrange another date this season, or to provide alternative entertainment on Tuesday.
We will hope to reschedule Jim Jermyn and his talk for next season.

 If you are reading this and may know of a member who might be  have been  thinking of attending this meeting but who is unlikely to read this or be on our email list, please let them know of the cancellation.

The next meeting of the ARGC will be on Tuesday 4th January 2011 and will be held at the lecture theatre of the Zoology Dept. of Aberdeen University, Tillydrone Avenue, Aberdeen . This will be held in conjunction with the Friends of the Cruickshank Botanic Garden and will be the Crosland Lecture.... given by Chris Chadwell.

I would be grateful if any other groups who have to cancel meetings would let me know so I can post a notice here.

I regret  that I will only be able to answer queries about future meetings for the Aberdeen Group, unless I am sent info by other Groups.

Personally I would've been an apology for that meeting
Which reminds me, Maggi, we must check out what meetings are on while we are in the UK next April/May after the Alpines 2011 conference!

Folks, news just in that SRGC Stirling Group Meeting for Wednesday 1st December has been cancelled. Many of us seeing  television new reports or hearing the travel updates on the radio  will doubtless not be surprised at this decision.
Too much snow about and more to come it seems.... not weather for sensible rock gardeners to be out and about when there are seed lists to be read at comfortable firesides.

Currently the Highland Group meeting is going ahead on Wednesday 8 December with a change of speaker Alasdair Maclean will give a talk on rhododendrons.

SRGC Borders Group have cancelled their meeting on Monday,6th December 2010 :  more snow last night and there is a lot at Bowden where the meeting is held.

Just heard from Gill, and our Dec 8th meeting for North Northumberland Group has been cancelled due to weather.

The Ayrshire Group meeting tomorrow night, Wednesday 8th December, has been cancelled , the weather there has taken a turn for the worse, too.

West of Scotland Group have cancelled our meeting at Glasgow Botanics tonight Monday 13th December.

Although the roads are not as bad as last Monday (!) many members come from a distance and travelling is still not easy.
