Dactylorhizas from northern Swiss Alps
« on: March 01, 2011, 09:04:32 PM »
Could anybody comment on identifications for the following, all photographed in the Wengen area, Swiss Alps, in early July.

Of course, they might not be dactylorhizas at all.

no 4 is not a Dactylorhiza but a Pedicularis ;)
I can't tell you what they are, however, it is a difficult matter even in Norway with relatively few species.

Many thanks, Hoy. The flower put a dactylorhiza in mind but the foliage jarred with that identification.

1,2,3 and 5 looks like Dactylorhiza fuchsii

probably the last pict shows Dactylorhiza alpestris ( majalis ssp. alpestris)

it`s easier to ID when flowers + leaves and habitat are shown

The Pedicularis is verticillata (the photo is excellent and shows the leaves in whorls on the stem).
