Hi all ,

Here are some pics from Orchids from a little mountain near of us -it is called Kaiserstuhl.
This area is the warmest area of germany ( 40 km from us ). It is a research area from forest - there grows Metasequoia and other rare trees .Also is this area well known for many Orchids -we go near every year and visit it -it is written there grows 26 different Orchids .

Hi Hans
Pleased to see your pix of this area  - reminds me of a visit there with colleagues some years ago, mainly looking at volcanoes and volcanic rocks associated with the Rhein valley. I recall that the Kaiserstuhl boasts some very interesting geology and very fine wine!!
Sorry, but can't help in identifying the orchids - hope one of the experts will reply.

I think O. spec -1  is Orchis purpurea (Lady Orchid) though this is difficult without a CU of a flower and the leaves. Grows in woodland or the edge of woodland - a limestone species. Very pretty but always looks to me as though it is a pixie in pink spotted pyjamas.
